About Me:
Growing up, I have always found a passion for teaching and found great joy in learning new information. This passion led me to becoming the captain of the schools Cheer leading team in high school. Wanting more teaching opportunities, I became the youth cheer leader coach, a team of 15 children ages 5-7 years old.
Upon graduation, I was accepted into UC Davis where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development. I participated in technology based experiments that fueled my interest in the integration of technology into academics. During my second year, I gained employment at Petco, working in the Grooming Salon. After about 7 months, I became pregnant and went on maternity leave. I planned on returning, but decided after having my daughter, that I wanted to work with children instead of dogs. When Sophia turned 6 months old, I gained employment at the YMCA as a Teacher's Assistant for the infants and toddlers until graduation. Upon moving back to Palmdale, I assisted in my daughter's therapy sessions, gained an unpaid internship as an Administrative Assistant and a McDonald's Office, and volunteer many hours in my daughter's preschool classroom. I enrolled and graduated from Ashford University, gaining a Master's in Teaching and Learning with Technology. I channeled this newly found knowledge by developing and teaching a STEM based coding game in Sophia's classroom, of which I still lead every "Science Wednesday." I am also enrolled in Treehouse, where I am learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and Wordpress to enhance my web development skills. |
